Machete (2010)

Movie Review

Directed by: Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis

Starring: Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Robert De Niro, and Jessica Alba

Machete (Danny Trejo) is an ex-Federale whose wife and daughter were killed by a vicious drug lord named Torrez (Steven Seagal).  Upon his arrival to Texas as an illegal immigrant, he is coerced into assassinating Senator John McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) by Michael Booth (Jeff Fahey).  However, he is betrayed and nearly killed by the man who hired him.  Bent on revenge, Machete then goes on the warpath and unleashes hell on anyone who stands in his way.  Robert Rodriguez’s Machete is violent, bloody, vulgar, and crass, but it is damn good fun.  In Danny Trejo’s first starring role, he delivers the goods.  With the likes of Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, and Lindsay Lohan, you should expect nothing but great performances in this guilty pleasure.
